5 out of 5 stars Highly recommended text on genetics   July 19, 1999

Concepts of Genetics is an outstanding book. It is the assigned text for a course in genetics that I am taking which is taught through the UC Berkeley Extension program. Course reading assignments cover all but two chapters and so far we have covered about 2/3 of them.

I really like the authors' approach to the subject. They do an excellent job of describing complex material in a way that makes it clear and understandable. The many diagrams, drawings and tables are an integral part of the coverage and help significantly to clarify the written explanations. The authors also have a good sense for the history of genetics, describing clearly many key experiments that have been done to establish the key principles.

The material has obviously been updated with most recent available results. The authors frequently point out areas of most intense current research. The text is definitely not light reading but if you want to learn the material, you will find it very well presented here.

5 out of 5 stars Awazing   July 30, 2008

Great help to those who want to go into genetics or just want to learn a few new facts. Lots of diagrams and pictures to go along with the information for better understanding. Also the book does a great job on explaining most of the topics, a few i think are just difficult to grasp.

5 out of 5 stars Great Buy!!! Just Like New!!   October 1, 2009

This was a great buy!! For the price, i expected some book with the pages all ripped and barely being held together, but boy was i surprised when i saw that it was just like new. It even still had the new book smell when i opened it.

I would definitely buy from this seller again!!

OK, let me put it simply.

I used this book to prepare for my lectures to 2nd year medical undergraduates- and I received outstanding feedback. The students just loved it!

This book covers genetics quite well its concise. It covers all the topics pretty well and also has plenty of genetic problems to make sure you know your stuff. I'd recommend getting the solutions book as well
